Wool by the Yard

All hat sizes are approximate. There are slight variations from one hat to the next. It may be necessary for you to take your hat to a local hat shop for sizing in order to obtain that "just right" fit.
Any hat shop can easily size your hat up or down a full size.

HAT STRETCHER
Have you ever taken your hat or kepi down from the top shelf after it sat there all winter? Just to notice it feels a little tight on your head. You look in the mirror to find that you don't really need a hair cut and you don't think you gained any weight. So why the heck is this stupid hat not fitting right? IT SHRANK! Yep, wool does that, even just sitting in the closet.
But we have the answer to that little problem. A new Hat Stretcher, even better, an affordable Hat Stretcher!
Just put the hat stretcher in where it lines up with the inner band of your hat and twist the handle till it's just snug, that works great for storage. THE BRADY STRAW HAT

I don't know why but for some reason I've always liked that full length profile photo of the famous Civil War photographer, Mathew Brady. It's the one where he is in the studio, standing with his canvas "duster" and wearing his low crowned straw hat. Not too long ago as I was day dreaming, looking through a book of his work when I came across that photo and wondered. Why has no one reproduced this hat? It can't be that hard can it? Well to tell you the truth it was a little more difficult than I thought. But not being smart enough to know when to quit I persisted! And several months and prototypes later here we are. I think it's a pretty darn good match. We hope you do too. It's made right here in Tennessee.

THE DICKENS

This is without a doubt my favorite hat of all times. In many of the old books and all the old magazine litho.'s. Or the photographs of the period showing men of any means this style of hat is always prominent. It enjoyed a very long reign as the most desirable style on both continents. Popular from 1845 to 1865 finally being dethroned by the "straight top" style. But in my opinion the "straight top" never had the style of the Dickens. This hat really makes a statement. Just imagine yourself walking into the ball with this hat tucked into the crook of your arm. Or when you and your lady are strolling through the camps visiting those friends and relations who have enlisted. People will look on with admiration I guarantee you.

THE DANDY
If you've ever spent much time researching the old fashion magazines you'll know just who I'm talking about. In the litho.'s they seldom show a guy but when they do he's in the company of about 3 ladies and boy is he a dandy. Looking sharp in his tailor fitted jacket and he's always wearing this hat! So if you consider yourself a "dandy" This is the hat for you. I've seen a cheap imitation of this hat out there, let me assure you this aint it. This one is of very good quality. And if your handy (you dandy) with hats that is, you can shorten the crown of this hat by rolling it inside of itself. But it will not return to it's original shape unless you have steamer and the forming block.

GAMBLER
When I look at this hat I can't help but to think of a Mississippi River Boat Gambler during the 1850's. The low crown and the short brim that tips a little low in the front just makes you want to say "deal me in boys!" But in all fairness you may look at it and see something completely different. I've seen several photos of soldiers both north and south wearing very similar hats. How about the photo of the 3 Tennessee boys captured at Gettysburg? The one standing, you know, the tall lean one with the rail fence in behind. Compare this hat to his. Pretty close don't you think?
This hat is very comfortable, soft wool felt and a cotton liner that feels like your not even wearing a hat but your favorite cap.

I'm particularly proud to be able to offer this hat. I've been looking for a high quality officer's slouch for years but I could never find good quality at a fair price. Well I think I have finally found one. Just take a look at this beauty!
Made from top quality wool felt, made in American. The brim is 3 inches wide, the crown is almost 5 inches tall with a slightly creased center top that is distinctive of the CW slouch. CS OFFICER'S HAT
The "Cavalier" is one of those classic icons of the Confederacy. Take a look at Gen. John Hunt Morgan's famous photo were he is seated legs crossed. He is wearing a very similar hat of black wool. Ours as you can see is of grey wool. The right side is "tipped up" so that you don't knock your hat off when mounted with saber or pistol at the ready. You can do almost anything with one of these blanks but remember they are just BLANKS. Look at the price. It's not a finished hat. That's your job if you buy one of these. Some people do wear them just like they are. They are not sized. You have to do that as well. They are made from Wool felt, the brim widths vary from 3 to 6 inches wide.
Crowns are 5 to 7 inches tall. Generally you will find some small flaw in these blanks but nothing that will prevent you from making a very fine hat. Available in black, brown, tan, grey and off white. If you're handy at working hats you can make any style out of these blanks!!

ECONOMY KEPIS AND BUMMERS
I hate to pass up a good deal, and the other day I found a supplier who makes a pretty darn good kepi and bummer at a great price. I bought a ton of them and got an even better price!

They're made of 100% wool with black leather brims and black leather adjustable chin straps with brass buckles. They're lined with black 100% cotton broad cloth. They are very well made. I don't think you will be disappointed with the goods and I'm sure you won't be with the price.
