GAME OF GRACESA period correct game foryoung ladies. It's a hoop toss game that is recommended by Mrs L. Maria Child, the most published women author of her time. If you have read many soldier's diaries then you know that when they did have any free time one of their favorite things to do was to gamble. Wasn't it Sam Watkins who in his book "Co. Aytch" said that all the boys would throw away the cards and dice before they went into battle. So that if they were killed and their body or belongings sent home their mothers and wives wouldn't find these instruments of the devil in their pockets.
