  Here's something you don't get to see everyday. It's a CS cartridge box and canvas sling with leather tabs. It's the first one I've seen for sale in a while. Rafael Eledge, owner of Shiloh Relics and of "Antique Road Show" fame, was kind enough to let me display these images here so that you might enjoy them. He would also be happy to sell you this set. LEATHER BELT KEEPERS

  Our leather belt keepers are made from top quality cow hide. They are "edged" and stitched by some of the best craftsmen in the business. They are 1/2 inch wide. If you've ever tried to sew one of these you know they are well worth the small price we are asking.
  Why would you need a leather belt keeper? Lots of reasons. If your making your own officers waist belt you'll need at least one of the large keepers. If your making your own saber belt you'll need one, possibly 2 of the large keepers and at least 4 of the small.
If your current belt is too large and you have an excess amount of leather tucked under, then adding an extra keeper will help keep it neat looking.

1808 US ISSUE CARTRIDGE BOX

  Here is a super reproduction of an 1808 US issue cartridge box. This is the box that Andy Jacksons troops would have used at the battle of New Orleans. It will work for a revolutionary war cartridge box. I suspect that it saw use in the Mexican war as well. Made just like the originals from top grade leather with great stitching. It comes with the wooden block and yes it has the compartment in the bottom with the tin. It uses a leather knot for a finial rather than brass or iron as per the original. PECARD LEATHER DRESSING

  Pecard has long been known in the Civil War Relic community as the best leather dressing for restoring original civil war era leather artifacts. But there is no need to wait until your leather gear becomes hard, brittle and starts to crack before you start using pecard. Just a little Pecards rubbed onto your leather a couple of times a year will keep it soft and looking good for many a long campaign. It works great on any leather with any finish. Its great for boots and shoes too!
  For restoring antique leather goods use multiple coats of Pecard. Allow an appropriate amount of drying time (drying time depends on weather conditions) between coats.

PUPPY PAW BUCKLE CENTER

  This is the attachment device for every stamped brass, lead filled belt plate before late 1863. Every militia, every state, every U.S. with the exception of the small 2 hook us belt buckle which were produced in very limited numbers. There are a few Georgia State seals with arrow type hooks but no one can agree on whether they are post war or not. This is called "puppy paws". Any how these are dug in and around Confederate camps in every state. They are not found in great numbers but they are found. Was the lead melted out of the back and then it and the brass face used for some other purpose? I know of at least one CS brass stamped buckle that was turned into a spoon. I don't think everyone should have one of these but it is a nice change from the old upside down U.S. buckle. If your looking for an authentic alternative to the common belt plate here it is.
  I also have just the brass "skins" of US and CS belt plates if you want to make your own correct puppy paw buckle. But i ain't pouring the lead. You'll have to do that.

BELT FOR RECTANGLE BUCKLES

  Our new belt for 2 piece rectangle buckles is an exact copy of an original. The edges of the belt are finished with straight line decoration. The keeper is hand sewn on with a 3/4 square stitch pattern and has 2 copper rivets with the washer side up. When you look to the originals you will see this style of affixing buckles to belts is seen more often than any other. This will not work with most tongue and wreath style buckles as they are too small and require a narrower belt. One exception to this is the musicians buckle. We will sew on any rectangular belt buckle that we offer for sale. The rectangular CSA buckle works well with this belt.
  The 1851 eagle belt plate (as seen in photo above) is not included unless you pick that option below. If you order the belt alone it will come with the all holes pre punched for sewing the keeper on as well as the holes for the rivets. The rivets are also included.

GEORGIA FRAME BUCKLE ON LEATHER

  Our Georgia frame buckles are cast right from an original dug here in Middle Tn. Just outside of Fosterville in Rutherford county. From a forward picket post in front of Guys Gap, the main road leading from Murfreesboro to Shelbyville. It was occupied by confederate troops until June of 1863 but never used there after. This positively dates this piece no later than June 63.
  Many of the top buckle men in the country believe that the buckles supplied to the Army of Tennessee during this period were cast in the Dalton Ga. area but there is no "proof positive". These buckles are found in both Army of Northern Virginia camps as well as Army of Tennessee camps.

  Our Georgia frames are the gutter back style, they are sewn on smooth side out with 3 lines of stitching as often seen on originals with leather intact. The belt itself is 1 7/8 inches wide. You can order yours in lengths of 40 inches, 50 inches or 60 inches. The tongue of the belt comes to a point (bullet style) at the end. The belt has a "creased" edge that runs the entire length of the belt and it comes in either black and brown leather.

FORKED TONGUE BUCKLE ON BLACK LEATHER

  Our forked tongue buckles are cast directly from one that was dug in Shelbyville Tn. in one of Gen. Polk’s Camps along the Duck River line. This camp was occupied from Jan. 63 until June of 1863.   Our high quality waist belts are made from top grain leather. They are 1 7/8 inches wide, black leather with all the holes punched, ready for the buckle.

LEECH & RIGDON SABER SNAPS

  Have you ever seen these before? Not unless you own an original. They have never before been reproduced. The most famous Confederate manufacturer of hardware is without a doubt Leech & Rigdon. Better known as Memphis Novelty Works. The most prolific maker of brass goods, sabers, the best made Confederate made pistols and even drums for the duration of the war. The shifting lines caused them to relocate several times during the war but they still managed to keep the goods flowing.
  At the onset of the War, Gen. Forrest was a Memphis City Councilman. And as you all know he outfitted his troops from his own pocket or from captured goods. Is there any doubt that he would have used Memphis Novelty Works Company for all they could have supplied? Dug goods from known Forrest camps and the photographic evidence proves without question that many of the Gen. Troopers were equipped with goods from Leech and Rigdon. Our original saber snap shown in the center was dug in the same Confederate Cavalry Camp as the CS shield and oval shown above.
  The snaps are made of solid cast brass with a spring steel snap braided directly into the snap. The best design possible for long wear without breakage. The snap measures 2 3/4 inches long. It has a beautiful ornate design that is cast into the brass. The loop measures 1 inch wide so it will fit any standard saber belt. It works great as the end snap on your horse lead too.

  Here is a great deal on a brand new artilleryman's primer pouch & belt. This pouch and belt are made from top grain brown leather. Completely cut and sewn by hand here in Tennessee.   Here is a great deal on a brand new artilleryman's haversack. This haversack is made from top grain brown leather. Completely cut and sewn by hand here in Tennessee. .69 CALIBER CARTRIDGE BOX

  Here is what a lot of us have been waiting for. A great repro of a standard pre war .69 cal. cartridge box. At the start of the war this was the predominate cartridge box north or south as there were more .69 cal. weapons in service than .58 cal. Almost 75% of all confederate cartridge boxes are copied from this pattern including the "Bivens Bros." Shelbyville Armory cartridge box. (some of the Bivens descendants still live here) There is little or no difference between most of them.   Our N.C.O. baldric (sword hanger) is made of top grain black leather. It is 2 1/8 INCHES WIDE and will accept all standard N.C.O. sabers.
