MUSLIN SHIRT

  The most common shirt seen at re-enactments today is our standard 3 button front muslin shirt. Our shirts are extremely well made, top of the line quality in both material and workmanship. The 3 button placket front is the most common shirt of the era. The stand and fall collar as seen in the photo above is very versatile. Period photographs show this style shirt being worn with the collar up or down. Either way it looks great with a cravat. This shirt is just as appropriate for the soldier as for the civilian regardless of your impression. Be it banker or plow boy this shirt will work just as well for the ball or the battlefield.

PLEATED WHITE COTTON SHIRT

  Now here is a fantastic shirt that is very hard to find. Reason being it's difficult to make but it's well worth the effort. You can see in the photo that the upper most button is not fastened. Sorry, I wanted to fasten it and put a cravat on for you but my necks a little too large, these shirts do fit normal people, honest. They are 100% cotton, very soft and ready to wear. 4 button front placket with a stand and fall collar and the button holes are hand sewn. The pleated front is very dressy. If your asking yourself, "I wonder if that shirt is really correct?" Here's where you can find it. Look through the old repro Frank Leslie or Harper's weekly papers. This shirt can often be found on the back in the advertisements. You could order them by mail from NYC at a cost of $10. for a dozen. I'm afraid the price has gone up a little since then but it's still a great shirt. I just can't imagine an officer or successful businessman not having at least one of these.

CAMP HARRIS SHIRT

  In the popular book "Soldiering in The Army of Tennessee" there is a soldier's letter from Camp Harris, a Confederate training camp near Winchester named for Tennessee's Gov. Isham Harris. The letter describes the first shirts the soldiers were issued. One a solid white shirt and the other a black and white checked. Our black and white checked shirt is of typical military style and has pewter buttons on a three button placate with a stand and fall collar. (yes I know the shirt in the photo has a short stand up collar) These shirts are available in Small through 2X-large. As far as we know there is no other description of shirts issued at Camp Harris or any other training camp in Tennessee.
  It was said that Gov. Harris was the Gov. who secede from the union and took Tennessee with him.

  If you were lucky enough to get your hands on a copy of the limited printing of the Abernathy Dairy, 9th Tenn. Cav. CSA (I wasn't but I did get to read the manuscript before it went to print) Then you know that he repeatedly ask his wife to send him his blue and white checked shirt and his boots in letter after letter. So yeah, blue and white checked shirts is a thing.

SILK TIE / ASCOT



  You will have to forgive my lack of expertise in this area. I can barely tie a traditional (modern) neck tie. I hope you can get the idea from the photos above. This is a 100% Silk neck tie that measures 11 inches wide by 60 inches long. This item is correct for pre-Colonial right through the American Civil War. BLACK SILK CRAVAT

  Wow! What a great looking cravat. If your like me and hate to tie these things from scratch you are going to love this. 100% silk, pre-tied in a great looking knot and it comes with a piercing buckle sewn on so you can't loose it. Just slip the tie on around your neck and insert the male end through the buckle. That's all there is to it!

  The cravat itself is one and one half inches wide at it's widest point and will fit from the smallest to the largest neck. Up to 20 inches. The piercing buckle is included.
  Break out your magnifying glass and look at some of your CDVs of men wearing cravats. I'll bet you can find this exact knot within just a few photos. I've been able to find it in almost every book I've opened as well.

CRAVAT

  This cravat is made from 100% cotton material. Just as the handsome young fellow in the photo left is wearing. It is pre-tied so you do not have to worry with tying. Simply put the tie on with the bow in the center front, just as you will wear it. Then pull the ends around your neck, not too tight now. Once you find that comfortable spot just mark the ends. You can cut the excess off if you like. We make them long enough to fit even the largest of collars. Now to hold it in place you can add a Piercing buckle, Hook and Eye or button and button hole. Fold your collar down and no one will be the wiser!

HOW TO MEASURE FOR A GLOVE



  To measure your hand use a cotton tape measure as found in any sewing kit. Measure as shown in the chart above.

7 inches to 7 1/2 inches is a Small. 8 to 8 1/2 inches is a medium. 9 to 9 1/2 inches is a large.

DRAWERS, 100% COTTON MUSLIN



January of 1863. Will Ward, brother of US Maj. Frank Ward, after his brother has died from his wounds received at the Battle of Murfreesboro writes. "They brought the body down dressed only in drawers and shirt - everything else was gone."

  Our cotton muslin drawers have a 1 1/2 inch waist band. They each have a 3 button front with and adjustment string in the rear waistband similar to some trousers. The rear seat area is pleated to give you plenty of room so they don't "bind up" when you kneel down. If you are buying these some where else I bet you are paying a lot more for them. We have waist size 30 through 44.
